FOR AGENCIES

Your Freelancer Missed Another Deadline. We Don't.

You outsourced post-production to freelancers because it was cheaper than hiring in-house. Now you are managing three different editors across two time zones, none of whom deliver consistent quality, and one of whom just ghosted on a client deliverable due Friday. Your creative director is recoloring footage herself at 11 PM because the freelance colorist submitted washed-out Rec.709 files when the brief specified P3 for a cinema run. We have heard this story from 80% of the agencies that contact us.

Why Agencies Outsource Post-Production (And Why Freelancers Keep Disappointing Them)

The economics are clear. An in-house editor in New York costs $75,000-$120,000 per year plus benefits, equipment, and software licenses. A senior colorist is $90,000-$140,000. A VFX compositor with After Effects and Cinema 4D skills is $85,000-$130,000. You do not have enough post work to keep any of them busy 40 hours a week, so you hire freelancers. And freelancers, by nature, have other clients whose deadlines matter just as much as yours. Here is what typically goes wrong: Quality inconsistency. Freelancer A delivers a beautifully graded commercial. Freelancer B, hired for the next project with the same client, delivers footage that looks like it was graded on a different planet. The client notices. You look bad. Communication gaps. You send a brief with 12 revision notes. The freelancer addresses 7, ignores 3, and introduces 2 new problems. Now you are spending 45 minutes on a call walking them through changes that should have taken 10 minutes in a written brief. Deadline volatility. Your client's campaign launches Monday. The freelancer promises delivery by Thursday. Thursday evening they ask for an extension. Friday morning they stop responding. You have been here before. Capacity ceilings. Your agency lands three campaigns in the same week. Your go-to freelancer can handle one. You scramble to find two more, onboard them, brief them, and pray the quality holds. It usually does not.

What a Dedicated Post-Production Partner Actually Provides

SLA-Backed Turnaround Guarantees

We work on service-level agreements, not good intentions. Standard SLA for agency partners: Editing turnaround: 5-7 business days for a 60-90 second commercial, 7-10 business days for a 3-5 minute brand film. Color grading: 3-5 business days. VFX compositing: scoped per project based on complexity. Rush SLA: 48-hour turnaround available at 1.5x standard rate. 24-hour turnaround at 2x for existing partners. Rush capacity is reserved for SLA clients — we do not sacrifice your deadline for a one-off project from someone else. Penalty clause: if we miss a confirmed deadline without a valid reason (client-caused delay, footage delivered late, scope change after approval), the project is discounted by 15%. This is in our standard agency contract. We have triggered this penalty exactly twice in our history — both times due to force majeure events. Our delivery record matters more to us than the margin on any single project.

White-Label Delivery: Your Brand, Our Work

Every deliverable leaves our studio with your agency's branding. Project files, review links, communication with your team — all under your name. Your client never sees BLKRIP. We adapt to your naming conventions, folder structures, and file delivery specs. If your agency standard is "ClientName_ProjectName_Deliverable_v01_ProRes422HQ.mov," that is exactly what we deliver. If you need files uploaded to your Frame.io workspace, your Google Drive, or your Asana project — we integrate into your workflow, not the other way around. Watermarks, end cards, lower thirds, and graphics use your templates or your client's brand guidelines. We work from your style guide and brand kit. If you don't have one formalized, we will help you build one that keeps every deliverable consistent across projects.

Revision Workflow That Doesn't Waste Your Time

Every agency project includes 3 revision rounds. Each round works like this: You receive a Frame.io review link with timecoded playback. Your team (and your client, if you choose) leaves comments directly on the timeline at the exact frame. Each comment can include text, annotations, and file attachments (reference images, revised logos). We address every comment, mark it resolved, and upload the next version. Version comparison: Frame.io's side-by-side player lets you compare v1 against v2 at the same timestamp, so you can verify that the change was made correctly without scrubbing through both versions independently. Revision scope: Each round covers the full deliverable. We do not nickel-and-dime revision counts by counting individual comments — a round is one complete feedback cycle. If you need 4 notes addressed or 14, it's one round. Additional rounds beyond the included 3 are billed at $150/hour. In practice, 85% of agency projects are approved within 2 rounds when the brief is clear. The 15% that go to round 3 or beyond are almost always projects where the client's own creative direction changed mid-production — not a quality issue on our end.

NDAs, Confidentiality, and Data Security

Standard agency partnership includes a mutual NDA covering all project materials, client information, campaign strategies, unreleased products, and creative concepts. We have signed NDAs with agencies handling Fortune 500 campaigns — we understand the stakes. File transfer: encrypted Google Drive links with access expiration, or your preferred enterprise file transfer platform (Aspera, MASV, Signiant). We never use consumer-grade file sharing for agency work. Project storage: files are retained for 90 days after final delivery, then permanently deleted unless you specify a longer retention period. Extended archival storage is available at $50/month per 500 GB. Team access: only the specific artists assigned to your project have access to your files. Our project management system restricts visibility to active team members. No freelancer pool with shared access — every person who sees your footage is a named, contracted team member under the same NDA.

Honest Limitation: We Are Not a Production Company

We handle post-production: editing, color grading, VFX compositing, sound design, and motion graphics. We do not shoot. We do not direct. We do not manage craft services or pull permits. If you need a full-service production + post partner, we can recommend production companies we have worked with — but we want to be clear about our scope so you are not disappointed when we say "we don't send camera crews." This specificity is why our post work is better than studios that try to do everything.

How Agency Partnerships Work

01

Onboarding: we sign your NDA (or ours — whichever is stricter), receive your brand guidelines, style guides, naming conventions, and technical delivery specs. We set up your Frame.io workspace and establish communication channels. Takes 2-3 days.

02

Per-project brief: you send footage, creative brief, reference videos, client brand assets, and deadline. We confirm scope, quote, and delivery date within 12 hours for SLA partners.

03

First delivery: edited cut with rough color balance and placeholder graphics. You review on Frame.io with your team and client, leave timecoded notes.

04

Refinement: color grading in DaVinci Resolve, VFX in After Effects/Cinema 4D, audio in Pro Tools, final graphics. Rounds 2 and 3. Final master delivery in all specified formats.

Opinionated Take: Stop Hiring Individual Freelancers for Ongoing Work

If your agency sends post work to freelancers more than twice a month, you have a partner-shaped hole in your pipeline. Every hour you spend sourcing, briefing, managing, and quality-checking freelancers is an hour your creative directors are not doing creative direction. The $30/hour you save on a freelancer versus a studio partner costs you $150/hour in management overhead. Do the math. If you are spending more than 3 hours a month managing freelance post-production, a studio partnership is cheaper — and the quality is higher because we run a standardized pipeline instead of reinventing the wheel on every project.

Agency Pricing Models

Per-project pricing: Editing from $400 for a 60-second commercial. Color grading from $150/minute. VFX scoped per shot (simple compositing from $200/shot, complex rotoscoping and particle work from $500/shot). Full post-production for a 60-second commercial typically runs $1,200-$3,000 depending on VFX complexity. Monthly retainer: Reserved capacity for agencies with ongoing post needs. $3,000-$8,000/month depending on volume and complexity. Retainer includes priority scheduling, guaranteed turnaround (no rush surcharges for standard deadlines), and a dedicated project manager who learns your brand and preferences over time. Agency markup: we support whatever margin model your agency uses. Our invoices can be structured as white-label line items, or we can provide a rate card that allows your standard 30-50% markup to the end client. We don't compete with your pricing — we enable it.

Questions Agencies Ask Before Partnering with a Post-Production Studio

How do you handle last-minute scope changes from our client?
Scope changes are standard agency life. We assess the impact on timeline and budget within 2 hours and send you a revised quote for approval before starting additional work. If the change is minor (color tweak, text update, music swap), we often absorb it within the existing scope. Major changes (new VFX shots, re-edit for a different aspect ratio, additional deliverable formats) are quoted as change orders. You always know the cost before we start.
Can we white-label your work completely?
Completely. Your branding on Frame.io review links, your email domain for client communication (we can BCC you on all client-facing messages or communicate exclusively through your team), your naming conventions on all files, your brand guidelines on all graphics. Your client will never know BLKRIP exists unless you tell them.
What happens if our client requests changes directly?
All feedback routes through your agency. We do not communicate directly with your end client unless you explicitly request it and grant permission. This protects your client relationship and ensures all creative direction flows through your team. If your client sends feedback to you, you relay it to us through Frame.io or your preferred channel.
Do you work with agencies worldwide?
We work with agencies worldwide. Most of our partners are in the US, Europe, and Australia. Timezone overlap is manageable — we deliver on schedule and communicate asynchronously via your preferred platform. For US-based agencies, our timezone (GMT+7) means we work while you sleep, and deliverables are in your inbox by your morning.
What file formats do you accept for source footage?
All professional formats: RED R3D, ARRI ALEXA RAW/ProRes, Blackmagic RAW, Canon Cinema RAW, Sony XAVC/RAW, ProRes 422/4444, DNxHD/HR, H.264/265 with LOG profiles (S-Log3, V-Log, C-Log3). We also accept iPhone ProRes and GoPro footage for social-first campaigns. XML, AAF, and EDL interchange from any NLE.
How do you ensure consistent quality across multiple projects?
Standardized pipeline. Every project goes through the same QC checklist: exposure range verification on waveform monitor, skin tone accuracy on vectorscope, audio loudness measurement to EBU R128, codec and resolution verification against delivery specs. We assign the same colorist and editor to your account for continuity. Quality is not a variable — it's a constant.
Can you handle large-volume campaigns with 20+ deliverables?
Yes. We have delivered campaigns with 30+ cutdowns across platforms and aspect ratios. For high-volume campaigns, we establish a master grade and master edit, then generate all cutdowns from the approved master with platform-specific adjustments. This ensures frame-accurate consistency across every deliverable while keeping turnaround reasonable — typically 3-5 days for the full set after master approval.
What is your agency onboarding process?
2-3 business days. We sign your NDA, receive brand guidelines and technical specs, set up your Frame.io workspace, assign a dedicated project manager, and run a paid test project at 50% of standard rate so both sides can calibrate expectations before committing to an ongoing partnership. No long-term contracts required — partnerships are month-to-month.
Do you provide project files along with final deliverables?
Yes. We deliver DaVinci Resolve project files (.drp), After Effects compositions (.aep), and Pro Tools sessions (.ptx) along with all rendered deliverables. This ensures you have full editability if your in-house team needs to make changes later. Project files are included in the standard deliverable set at no additional cost.
How do you handle rush projects during your nighttime?
Our timezone (GMT+7) is an advantage for rush projects. When your US or European agency needs a 24-hour turnaround, that request arrives during our morning. We work a full day and deliver by your morning — effectively giving you overnight turnaround without anyone working at 3 AM. For extreme rush (same-day, under 8 hours), we assign a dedicated artist who works through, but this is limited to existing SLA partners and availability.
